News: Who do we believe these days?

In a most recent event that seems to have rocked the entire circuit of the famous pop artist Michael Jackson’s fan base and others who had some connection with him, news reporting has gone out of control. We all do expect that in the first few moments things would go haywire, confusion would abound and lots of different stories would come into play, but when a gossip site apparently has the inside scoup and all the information that not even popular news sites such as CNN, or Fox News has, its time to truly question who to trust for our news in this day and age.

So widespread with this mayhem that there are also side reports of people not being able to make or receive calls due to what is or was going on. Even web surfing seems to have come to a grinding and painfully slow task to accomplish.

But before I do continue, I’m sure we all remember the game we used to play as a child called telephone. Where one person starts with a sentence and we go around in that circle all excited to hear and pass on the news only to find out in the end that the original sentence or phrase and what the last person got out of it was completely different.

This is the same thing that is going on with news. It’s one big telephone game and no one is even sure who is right or who is even wrong or what is even true. We just believe what is easy for us to believe. What makes us comfortable, what is the best thing to talk about over lunch at work or with friends.

With all the advancements of technology in the past 5 years alone one would truly believe that news reporting would’ve been included in the upgrade.

So I ask again, Who do we believe with our news these days?

Your thoughts are most welcome.
