5 low cost ways to have a mini vacation

We all need a break but can’t always take a 5 star vacation to a tropical island with a waiter waiting on our every need. But here are 5 ways in which you can get a way, do some good and come back feeling refreshed.

  1. 1. Be active – Spend some quality time focusing on your favorite thing to do, or better yet start a new routine. Exercise is not only good for you but it also relieves stress, and brings about new ways in which you can become creative. Get up from infront of the computer and grab a friend and make it fun.
  2. Volunteer – While this may not seem like a vacation, it really is. By taking some time out of your busy schedule to do some quality good for your community or visiting kids in a hospital not only will you feel more relaxed you will also feel a sense of purpose.
  3. Picnic at a park – It may seem outdated and a very lame thing to do but why not benefit from the relaxing power of spending time in the great outdoors. If you live in a large city there are many places that you can escape to for some quality free time. Pack a small lunch or even make it a group affair, find a few friends and arrange a meet. Its not only a great way to catch up with friends, but also to build quality experiences and refresh your creative side.
  4. Movie/Game night- Call up a few friends, or spend that quality time you’ve been meaning to with your significant other, pull out a few board games you have collecting dust or a few movies you bought but have yet to see, don’t forget to add in some popcorn and refreshments and voila you have hours of endless fun waiting to be enjoyed. To make the night even more fun, turn off the PC or mac, put the phones on silent or vibrate and don’t give a single thought to your worries.
  5. Learn your city – We all know tourists travel from one place to enjoy another, spend tons of money and go back home with lots of memories and souvenirs, but why not do all of that in your own neck of the woods. Grab that camera and head on out, enjoy the local attractions, stop in at the new place you’ve had your eye on that most likely isn’t new anymore. And most importantly, take lots of pictures to remember the day.

But wait there’s more. Here are a few Do’s and Don’t s to fully enjoy your mini vacation time.

Do’s

  • Never be afraid to try something new
  • Always bring along a friend
  • Focus, focus, focus. Don’t get distracted, just let go and have fun.

Don’t s

  • Don’t think about work.. RELAX instead.
  • Don’t bring your laptop so you can find the nearest wifi hotspot
  • Don’t bring your phone so you can talk to clients… keep it only for emergency purposes

If you have more ways that you use to relax, feel free to share them.
